first to hoist the assault regimental Red banner of Victory
over the Reichstag building.
Every year when the Victory over the Fascist Germany is
celebrated, it is possible to see on TV
channels the news-reel
frames shot by Roman Karmen, a documentary film maker.
These frames were shot on May 3rd, 1945, and they show the moment when a
group of
intelligence officers commanded by lieutenant Semyon
Sorokin rush with an assault banner at the
Reichstag building. It was about this very
banner that
G.K.Zhukov reported Stalin that day.
